When this retired couple decided to downsize they did not have to go far. Located within their neighborhood is a section of town homes clustered around a small lake and as luck would have it there was one available! It was filled with good natural light and had tons of potential. All it needed on the interior was some TLC and updating.
The wife loves all the blues and has an extensive collection of china, crystal and anything blue and white. We were able to display all of her favorite pieces in groupings in the kitchen, dining room and great room. It was decided to add blue cabinetry to the classic white kitchen as well as navy Greek Key wallpaper in the connecting dining room.
Their great room contains a beautiful armoire and a wooden bar that could not be parted with along with a few new upholstered pieces and a sofa table that are more contemporary in feel. This room contains an oil painting by Greenwood artist Alice Broadwell Lewis that was commissioned for their former home.
I continued with a different shade of blue along with creams and grays in the master bedroom area. There is a commissioned painting by Spartanburg artist Marsha Jennings over the bed. The master bath was completely renovated, omitting a tub in favor of a larger shower and space for the wife’s vanity table.
The exterior patio area was expanded to include a fireplace and low brick wall for privacy as well as adding a deck off the kitchen. These areas are wonderful additions for entertaining or just relaxing.
All in all, this home is filled with a lifetime of treasures and classic traditional style. It’s also the perfect size for this socially active couple who love to have their friends and family over when they are not busy traveling.
